Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory launches additional OS-1 Jelly Apple Flavor 200 g to the Oral Rehydration Solution OS-1 series

Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory, Inc. (Head Office: Naruto, Tokushima, Japan; President and Representative Director: Shuichi Takagi; hereinafter, Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory) will additionally launch OS-1^® Jelly Apple Flavor 200g to the Oral Rehydration Solution OS-1^® series on January 23, 2025.

OS-1 Jelly Apple Flavor is a product with the same concentrations of ingredients involved in the water and electrolyte replenishment effect as the oral rehydration solution OS-1. Apple flavoring is used to change the flavor, and as with OS-1, it has been approved by the Consumer Affairs Agency for labeling as an individually evaluated food for persons with medical conditions, categorized as a food for special dietary use.

Since it's in jelly form, OS-1 Jelly is easy to swallow and can be used by people with trouble chewing and swallowing. OS-1 has a less salty flavor than the drink, and is easier to take for children who don't like the taste, and, since it's in jelly form, it is hard to spill. The jelly can also be spooned out to the child one mouthful at a time. We hope that by adding the new apple flavor to our lineup, it will provide a new option for our users.

Approved labeling of OS-1 Jelly Apple Flavor

OS-1 Jelly Apple Flavor is an oral rehydration solution used in dietary therapy (oral rehydration therapy) for dehydration. This product is approved as a food for persons with medical conditions and is intended to provide water and electrolytes in order to maintain proper water and electrolyte balance in persons with mild-to-moderate dehydration. OS-1 Jelly Apple Flavor can be used to prevent worsening of and aid in recovery from dehydration caused by the following conditions. OS-1 Jelly Apple Flavor can also be used to provide or maintain water and electrolytes in the following conditions after recovery from dehydration.

• Diarrhea, vomiting, or fever associated with infectious enteritis or the common cold
• Insufficient oral intake in elderly persons
• Excessive perspiration

OS-1 Jelly Apple Flavor can also be used for heatstroke associated with dehydration.

Although this product can be consumed by persons who have difficulty chewing or swallowing, a physician should be consulted before its use.
