Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory to Start Distributing an App "Nurtal" to Visualize Administration of Nutrition and Support Nutrition Management by Healthcare Professionals

Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory, Inc. (Head Office: Naruto, Tokushima, Japan; President and Representative Director: Shuichi Takagi; hereinafter, Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory) will start distribution of a smartphone application "Nurtal" (hereinafter, the app) designed for healthcare professionals to streamline nutrition management and support their communication by calculating and visualizing administration of nutrition on smartphone.

An app user enters nutrition management information of individual patients. The app calculates and displays the sum of each nutrient (carbohydrate, protein, fat) and water content when daily intake of meals, enteral nutrition* and IV solutions are entered. The user can set a daily target of energy and protein intake, and the energy target is displayed on a chart/plan. Thus, the app visualizes nutrition management.

Recently, medical and nursing care workers are in shortage, while there is an increasing demand for further enhancement of the healthcare system, including coordination and promotion of rehabilitation, nutrition management and oral care management in relation to the medical service fee system.
