Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory launches a concentrated liquid diet product "HINEX RENUTE^Ⓡ" to provide protein and energy for early resumption of nutrition

Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory, Inc. (Head Office: Naruto, Tokushima, Japan; President and Representative Director: Shinichi Ogasawara; "OPF") will launch "HINEX RENUTE^®," a new addition to the existing line of concentrated liquid diet products, on September 26, 2023.

HINEX RENUTE is an oligomeric, concentrated liquid diet food containing collagen peptide, soybean peptide, and amino acids. It contains less carbohydrate than other HINEX series products and increases the percentage of protein and fat, considering protein and energy charge for early resumption of nutrition. It was named "RENUTE" combining English words "RE" (meaning "again") and "NUTRITION."

Generally, it is considered important to keep in mind the possibility for the onset of refeeding syndrome^*1 for resuming nutrition of the patient with malnutrition caused by the various diseases, and it has been demanded for a long time to develop a concentrated liquid nutritional product in consideration of this issue. The proportion of three major nutrients is 50% for fat, 26% for carbohydrate, and 24% for protein, and as in other HINEX series products, it contains dietary fiber and formulates vitamin B₁ necessary for carbohydrate metabolism and L-carnitine^*2 for fat metabolism. It is expected to be useful as a concentrated liquid diet product considering energy charge in early resumption of nutrition.
