J.O. Pharma Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Izumo, Shimane, Japan; President and Representative Director: Yoshifumi Fujimoto; "J.O. Pharma"), a subsidiary of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory, Inc. (Head Office: Naruto, Tokushima, Japan; President and Representative Director: Shuichi Takagi), announces that all electricity purchased from external sources will be switched to 100% renewable energy starting April 1.
This is expected to result in a reduction of approximately 5,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year, which accounts for about 70% of J.O. Pharma's annual CO2 emissions, equivalent to the annual emissions of approximately 2,000 households*.
Based on its 2050 Environmental Vision, "Net Zero," the Otsuka Group aims to reduce the total environmental impact of its business activities to zero, in order to do its part in the transition to a low-carbon society. The Otsuka Group is actively working to reduce its CO2 emissions, having set a target of reducing CO2 emissions by 50% by 2028 compared to 2017.
Under this goal, J.O. Pharma will continue to engage in various initiatives to reduce environmental impact, such as introducing high-efficiency air conditioning systems, steam-free equipment conversion, and conducting tree-planting activities, promoting sustainable manufacturing as an environmentally conscious manufacturer.
The Otsuka Group is united to aim to contribute to the realization of a low-carbon society and eventually a sustainable society through the application of new technologies and solutions.
