(Head Office: Sagamihara, Kanagawa, Japan; President and Representative Director: Isao Shirasaki; "Lilium Otsuka"), a subsidiary of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory, Inc. The KIS is the standard that sets out Kawasaki City's unique welfare products, which aim to "revitalize the city's industry by enriching people's lives through the creation of new lifestyles and work styles" by certifying innovative products and utilizing certified products based on eight principles*1 centering on "self-reliance support." In fiscal 2021, seven products were certified.

Lilium-SPOT2, launched in August last year, is a healthcare appliance which can check the level of urine accumulation on a scale display by applying ultrasonic waves to the position of the bladder. This product is useful for people who have trouble with the timing of toilet guidance, people who are not clear about their urge to urinate, or people who frequently complain about their urge to urinate, to check the level of urine accumulation and whether urine has been expelled after urination.

This certification was decided after a strict screening process based on the evaluation by Kawasaki Welfare Technology Lab "Weltech,"*2 a support center for the development of welfare products operated by Kawasaki City and others, and on monitoring evaluations by welfare facilities in Kawasaki City. Kawasaki City commented, "Although it is necessary to determine the purpose of use and the characteristics of each user, we feel that Lilium- SPOT2 is a device that leads to connect to medical institutions and support the independence of users by learning about the tendency of urination. Therefore, we have judged it to be in compliance with the principles of the KIS and have decided to award it the KIS-certified welfare product in fiscal 2021." This certification will continue for three years.

Lilium Otsuka, which has sold "Lilium α-200,"*3 a medical device that uses ultrasonic waves, since 2015, has developed Lilium-SPOT2 as a healthcare appliance in the nursing care field, drawing on its accumulated medical device development and manufacturing know-how. We will continue to develop our products that can help people who have trouble with urination, support their family's daily lives, and help reduce the burden on nursing care staff.

Based on the corporate philosophy of "Otsuka-people creating new products for better health worldwide," the Otsuka Group is dedicated to contributing to the health of people around the world.

*1 Eight principles: respect for individuality and dignity, reflection of users' opinions, self-determination, comprehensive understanding of needs, activation of activity capacity, ease of use, safety and security, and normalization.

*2 Weltech, abbreviation of Kawasaki Welfare Technology Lab, is jointly operated by Kawasaki City, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology to support development businesses centered on small- and medium-sized enterprises and venture companies in Kawasaki City that develop and improve welfare products.

*3 Bladder volume ultrasound imaging device developed and sold by Lilium Otsuka since November 2015 (Medical device approval number: 227ADBZX00146000)
