What is the Medicinal ingredient Hinokitiol?

Hinokitiol is an ingredient discovered in 1936 by Dr. Tetsuo Nozoe from the essential oil of the Taiwanese cypress. It has antimicrobial effects and relieves inflammation. It is also known that it enhances penetration and exhibits more bactericidal action with a longer application time.
